Jane M. Farrell

A lifelong resident of Hot Springs, Farrell graduated with high honors from the University of Wyoming before attaining her law degree from the University of Notre Dame. Growing up she had witnessed her father, Martin P. Farrell, serving the community through his law practice and decided to follow his example. After graduation, she clerked for US District Court Judge Donald Porter in Pierre, South Dakota. Following her clerkship, her father invited her to join him in the law practice he started in 1946. She continues to practice in the building he designed and built in 1968 serving generations of local families.

Through the years, Jane has represented clients in complex civil litigation, criminal court, argued cases in front of the South Dakota Supreme Court, and has done appellate work in the US Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.

She now focuses her practice on wills, trusts, power of attorneys, estate planning, business transactions, and real estate matters.

Her community activities include serving as the Chair of Hot Springs Public Library Board of Trustees, on The Mammoth Site of Hot Springs, South Dakota Board of Directors, and as a former President and current emeritus member of the University of Wyoming Alumni Association Board of Directors .
